Opel/Vauxhall Insignia audio system with touch screen

This is a guide on how to install a new touch screen infotainment system for a Vauxhall/Opel Insignia. I will

also provide pictures that show of the interface of the new system along with some videos. The new system is a Hualingan HL-8747GB, which can be bought from this site Dvdplayer.com.com.  I paid around £350 GBP.

Hopefully it will help other people interested in this system. So far it is a good system, I’ve not had any problems with it. Everything seems to work fine on it.

Here is a picture of the screen when it first arrived:

Thing you have to note here is the centre console around it is actually brownish and not jet black. But it isn’t noticable and I actually think it looks fine against the jet black.

Harness to plug in original cable from insignia

Number 3

The back of the new unit:
I put some numbers on it:
1-2 form the harness pictured above. The harness also connects to a Can-bus decoder. Which has a lead coming from it that then connects into one of the leads coming from the adapter where the number 3 is placed(I call it the extras cable, as it has lots of extra inputs and outputs. Audio out and aux in, rear camera input etc.). This is were I went wrong with the console buttons and steering wheel controls. I didn’t see the wire coming from lead 3

Also you will see a cable at the bottom left of the unit, that is the aerial adaptor, you plug that in, then you plug in the vauxhall aerial cable in to the end of it. Oh and the black cable hanging to the right of the picture is the USB cable. It just has a standard usb port at the end for you to plug in a memory stic/usb drive or even an ipod cable(can’t confirm if it works or not. But what I can say is it doesn’t work with the iPhone. I just stream my music via A2DP using my iPhone)

Back of audio unit.

Number 4

Front of the new unit:
You will see a small white connector on the front, you plug the touch screen in to that. There is a lead that you plug in to the touch screen then you plug it in to the unit.

That’s about it. Basically you plug 4 cables in to the back of the unit. 2 of the cables form the Harness + Can-bus decoder. The other is the extra’s lead like audio out and aux in, rear camera and speakers etc. Then the aerial lead.

The can-bus adaptor has a wire that plugs in to another wire on the extras lead that makes the steering wheel controls + front console buttons active.

Then you plug in the screen and attach the GPS aerial to the back of the screen it just screws on, it is the gold plated connector shown below:

Joel, you wouldn’t want one of these systems if you have the factory nav system installed.
Jens it is impossible for me to tell if the knob be the electric hand brake works or not. As my model of insignia doesn’t have that.

    Cheers,
    joe

  2. Mehmet says:

First , thank you for all informing. I’m from Turkey
I have 20010 Opel Insignia Cosmo, with CDC400.
Mounted to your vehicle with Hualingan HL-8747GB system, your all car functions , buttons, keys and Volume Control and Track Control buttons are correctly working? Have a any problem ?

  3. Mehmet says:

Opel Insignia model vehicles have 5 for one equipment manufacturer.
Which system best for your opinion? If you currently receive a new device manufacturer’s device, which do you prefer?
    Thank you for your information.

    • Joe Mailey says:

I would prefer the Manufactures Navi + Bluetooth over this system. But I couldn’t afford it so the system I got was a fine replacement.
All buttons and controls work fine.

  4. Antonio says:

Hi Joel, I just installed the HL-8747GB Hualing and I can´t hear the voice of the GPS, and when I receive a phone call they don´t listen to me. What may be the solution?

    Thanks

  5. Marcos says:

    Good morning.

I installed the dvd-player and not hear the voice with the GPS.

Using Bluetooth with the phone, do not listen to me. It seems that the microphone does not work.
    Have this problem any solution
    thanks

    • Joe Mailey says:

The microphone is in the screen, so it is a bit far away. But apparently you can disconnect the microphone and extend it so it will be closers to you.
I have not done this as I no longer have my Insignia, but the person I sold the radio to was able to disconenct the microphone from the screen and extend it using a nokia microphone. That meant he was able to place the microphone closer to himself and in return it fixed the speaking issue.
